Jean Bernard Saby Saint-André Corbin St-Georges-st-Emilion 2012
Submitted by highest point (so with perfect drainage) on the plateau in front of Saint-Emilion. Here are invariably the earliest ripe the grapes; ostensibly a detail, but it is important. Hereby a share that yummy indulgence… The nose and mouth give one and all ripe, sultry wealth – toasty and overflowing of the juicy, melting red fruit. Typical Merlot, which with 75% prevails, complemented by 25% of what more serious Cabernet Franc, both from extremely old vines (77 years)… Additional explanation for the deep intensity! Finish tempts with spices, mocha and balanced cedar wood maturation (one third, one third new oak barrels for 1 year old, one third 2 years old). Perhaps fractionally more ‘ bite ‘ than 2009, but overall pretty much just as soft and seamless structure.
